Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) in East Asia - Production of "East Asia ENC" -
In order for enhancing the safety of navigation, especially in view of the implementation of Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) carriage requirements phased from 2012 and the growing number of ENCs all over the world, harmonized ENCs of good quality and wide coverage are urgently needed for mariners.
Recognizing that, EAHC have tackled and discussed among its Member States about the overlapping issue, data harmonization, ENC Production Guidelines, etc.
As one of the outcomes of the discussion, EAHC Member States are planning to jointly produce comprehensive ENC coverage of the East Asia region, or 'East Asia ENC' (a harmonized set of regional ENCs) for Usage Band 1 (i.e. for Overview).
South China Sea Electronic Navigational Chart (SCS ENC)
The South China Sea is one of the world's busiest international sea lanes.
Realizing that official and high quality small scale ENCs conforming with the established IHO standard were not available for the SCS, the EAHC Member States decided to cooperate closely and resolved the situation by producing the SCS ENC in 2005.

Noting this, in view of promoting safe navigation, EAHC delegation (Chairman of EAHC and EAHC’s representatives) visited hydrographic organization in Vietnam, Vietnam's Maritime Safety Authority No.1 and Vietnam's Maritime Safety Authority No.2, in 2008 and 2009 so as to encourage them to join as a member of EAHC as well as IHO.
